Before you start with daily campus routine, One thing need attention will be your kitchen cupboard. When you already settle down start thinking what you need to put in cupboard to help you spend less on takeaway food by making or cooking your own meal.
Perhaps these items will give you basic idea, you are in control of your budget, decide sensibly on what you use more often or less or not at all.
- Seasoning such salt and pepper.
- Some dried herbs. Such as Oregano and or thyme.
- Vegetable cube stock.
- Dried garlic or garlic paste.
you also need some Tin / Can food to be ready such as :
- Tuna
- Sardine
- Corned beef
- Sweet corn
- Kidney beans
- Bake beans
- Salmon
- Hotdog / Tin sausages.
- Button mushroom
- Coconut milk
Other Cooking Ingredients that might be useful to keep such as :
- Rice ( white or brown for healthy option )
- Dried pasta ( spaghetti, Macaroni etc )
- Ready mix cooking sauce or paste that might come handy.
- Dried noodles. Instant noodles can also be use for quick dish.
Not to forget some fresh Ingredients as mentioned below need to be around, but remember only purchase these items in small quantity. If you think you are going to use it a lot then you can get more depend on storage space you have in the kitchen, especially when you have to share the kitchen with other student who live there too. Some items may need to be kept in fridge or freezer.

- Fresh vegetables ( keep in fridge ). Potato, Carrots, Brocolli, etc.
- Butter
- Fresh Milk.
- Hot chocolate.
- Jam, nutella or peanut butter ( your choice ).
- Cereal.
- Bread.
- Cheese of your choice.
- Fresh Eggs.
- Fresh bacon / pastrami or sandwich filling.
Those mentioned above are to guide you. It is all depend on how you feel and how often you want to make your own food to save some money.
